You may use this form to request an Interlibrary Loan (ILL), which is a request for a book from another library. You must be a member of the Manchester Community Library in good standing. Books requested must be at least six months old. If this is your first request, please read about our ILL policies and procedures below. You may also request ILL’s in person or by phone at 802-362-2607.

ILL requests are limited to 3 active loans. Donations are always appreciated to help cover postage costs of about $3 per book.

(If you would like to request a book published within the last six months, suggest a purchase!)

Interlibrary Loan Policies & Procedures

If Manchester Community Library does not own a book, we may be able to borrow it from another library through ILL. Requests may be placed in person, by phone or by filling out the form above. At this time, ILL service is restricted to printed books and articles from periodicals. A book is not eligible for ILL until it is at least six months old.

ILL services are available to Library members whose accounts are in good standing. There is a limit of 3 active book requests. Any exceptions to the limit must be discussed in advance with the ILL coordinator. Loans from other Vermont libraries on average take 7 business days, but may take longer.

Regular ILL service is free to Library members, but we gladly accept donations to help cover postage costs, about $3 per book.

The ILL loan period is set by the lending library and will vary. If you need to keep a book longer, please call us to request renewal 3-4 days before it is due. Renewals are determined by the lending library.

MCL is responsible for books borrowed from other libraries. Our ILL borrowing privileges are jeopardized if anything is lost, damaged, or returned late. All standard library policies apply to books borrowed via ILL. Any library member who loses or damages books will be responsible for covering the costs of the damages. MCL reserves the right to suspend ILL privileges for any Library member who habitually returns items late or with damage.
