MCL Turns Three, Announces Trustee Appointments
As Manchester Community Library approaches the three-year mark in its new facility, the Library’s Board of Trustees welcomes the energy, expertise, and insight of three new members: Renee Beth Fishner, Kate Orme, and Jeff Wilson. Named to Elle Decor’s list of the 50 Best Libraries in the United States, MCL brims with activity as a vibrant community gathering place. “This new building requires a dynamic course of leadership. We have a remarkable board, that will only be enhanced by the additions of Renee, Kate, and Jeff,” stated MCL Board President Linda McKeever.
Renee Beth Fishner, a sales professional specializing in Marketing, Food and Beverage, and Catering and Event Management, and co-owner, with her husband, Jason, of the 3D printing business FISH3D, states “The Library has had a huge impact on me. Not only has it become a center for family, business, art, and networking activities, it has also provided wonderful experiences and relationships through the library and community. I’ve discovered that MCL is incredible at promoting literacy in young children and in fostering the value of learning through play.”
Kate Orme had a successful decade-long career in New York City in the fields of publishing and advertising. While raising two children with her husband, George, she became involved with Literacy Volunteers of Stamford/Greenwich for more than ten years, first as a tutor, then as a board member and board chair. Kate and her family moved to Manchester in 2004 and she worked for many years at Stratton Mountain Resort, while also continuing her volunteer work at Stratton Mountain School as co-president and secretary of the SMS Parents Association. She also volunteered for several years at the Southern Vermont Arts Center and most recently at the Manchester Community Library. Kate recently stated, “I am excited about the amazing potential ahead for MCL, to cement its role as an invaluable community resource, and eager for the opportunity to contribute in an even more meaningful way.”
After twenty-six years of public service in state and local government, Jeff Wilson joined the Transportation Management Services, Inc. railroad management team in 2003, and at present, helps oversee two short line freight rail operations, along with Nashville, Tennessee’s commuter rail service. Prior to moving to the private sector, Jeff was employed as Manchester’s Town Manager from 1986-2003. He is a former member of the Vermont House of Representatives (2009-2015) and currently serves on the UVM Board of Trustees. Jeff is married to BRSU Superintendent Jackie Wilson. They have resided in Manchester for the past thirty-one years.
Fishner, Orme, and Wilson join trustees Mary Blair, Martha Heilemann, Alexandra Heintz, Allison Mason, Linda Day McKeever, Linda Oskam, Mike Powers, David Quesnel, and Nancy Wolf, along with Honorary Trustees Tony Hoyt, Susie Hunter and Christine Miles in shepherding the Manchester Community Library in its mission to be open to all as an inspiring gathering place for the community, providing opportunities and resources for personal enrichment and growth.
McKeever would also like to remind the Manchester community that the Library board meetings take place on the first Tuesday of the month at 5:30 pm and are open to the public.
