The Summer Reading Program is over, and summer break is ending in the Northshire, but fun has not disappeared from the Library! This Fall, Manchester Community Library is proud to offer a safe after-school place with programs that help students learn new skills, discover new passions, and make new friends. Our after-school programs are free and open to all, serving ages 8 and up.
Mondays

Pokémon Club
Ages 8+ | Ongoing, 3:15 – 4:30 pm
Gotta catch ‘em all! Kids ages 8 and up are invited to join fellow Pokémon fans from 3:15 to 4:30 pm on Mondays to trade cards, play casual games, and share their love for the franchise. LEARN MORE
Tuesdays

Rosie’s Girls
Ages 11 – 14 | September 8 – November 10, 3:30 – 5 pm
NEW THIS FALL! This hands-on program teaches practical skills for nontraditional careers for women and gender-nonconforming individuals. Rosie’s Girls welcomes participants of all gender identities who are comfortable in a girl-centered space and are interested in learning these skills. Participants might find themselves in the Library after school using power tools, hammering nails, or planning to take over the world of welding. Space is limited, so registration is required. Build Quest
Ages 8+ | Starts September 1, 3:30 – 5 pm
Young engineers are invited to the MCL Children’s Library on Tuesdays after school to make creations with assorted materials. Will it be a roller coaster, a windmill, or a complex cityscape? The possibilities are limited only by imagination (and physics). This program is open-ended and unguided. LEARN MORE

Coding Club
Ages 8+ | Starts September 1, 3:30 – 5 pm
Using MIT’s Scratch and the Python scripting language, students in Coding Club create custom animations, video games, and more. LEARN MORE

Creativity Cave
Ages 8+ | Starts September 1, 3:30 – 5 pm
The Creativity Cave offers a new art style, with hands-on activities led by local artists each week. LEARN MORE
Thursdays

Check Mates
All Ages | Ongoing, 3:30 – 5 pm
Beginners are always welcome to join our long-standing intergenerational chess club on Thursday afternoons. LEARN MORE

Zines Club
Ages 8+ | Starts September 10, 3:30 – 5 pm
Cartoonists, writers, and other creative young minds are invited to join this weekly after-school club. Learn zine basics, share supplies, and get started on the road to creative self-publishing. LEARN MORE
With so many opportunities to learn, create, and connect, MCL is the perfect place for students to spend their afternoons this fall. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for another exciting school year!
Please note: In keeping with the Library’s Patron Conduct Policy, parents and guardians are responsible for the welfare and behavior of their children under 18 while at the Library or on Library grounds. Children under 12 must be accompanied and supervised by a parent, guardian, or other responsible adult unless they are participating in a Library program. Kids ages 12 to 17 are welcome to use the Library independently. The Manchester Community Library cannot assume responsibility for unattended minors.
