Work in Progress: Noise May Be Present
September 13, 2024Have You Finished with Gather?
September 18, 2024From the many backgrounds through which the people of the Northshire have come, the rich tapestry of our community is formed. Join other locals in celebrating our community!
The Manchester Community Library is hosting a Passport Program to encourage cultural understanding and highlight the impact the international community has on our little town nestled in the Green Mountains.
Your participation would make your business a stop for Passport patrons to visit. Pick a country to represent and showcase your connection. This could be a display on cultural heritage or on products that your business works with from that country.
If you are interested in participating, contact Paige Vignola at pvignola@mclvt.org or by phone at (802) 549-4574.
Festival Information
Venue: All across Manchester! The venues will include stores, restaurants, and other local organizations that wish to participate.
Reason: In the time between when the leaf peepers have gone and when the skiers arrive, we want the community to get together and celebrate our diverse cultural heritage. Let’s remind those who live locally that Manchester businesses and organizations love and value them.
Every participating business or organization will select the country that they wish to represent. Decorating for the country is recommended, as is having a “signature” item; this could be candy, food, an article of clothing, or anything else that can be handed out at the organization’s discretion. For example, Willoughby’s Donuts will feature Berliners and Bavarian Cremes.
The Library will create a passport that will have a stamp page for each of the participating countries/businesses, encouraging individuals and families to visit our town’s great organizations and get to know a little bit more about them. The Library will offer prizes to participants who complete their goals.
What does “international” mean to you and your business? This is both a celebration and an opportunity to share and educate locally about the diversity of our community.
