Overview
Community Conversation is a forum for discussion and exchange between nonprofits located here in Southwestern Vermont. Our hope is that colleagues from across the region will meet, share, and learn about one another, creating new connections. Andy Robinson, author and nonprofit consultant, will be our keynote speaker on “Building a Board that Works!”
Following the keynote address, the day will comprise of table discussions lead by Andy Robinson.

Building a Board that Works!
To be effective, nonprofits must recruit board members who support their ideals, represent the diversity of the community, and bring a wide range of skills. This workshop covers:
• How boards change as organizations grow and change
• Finding and filling the gaps on your board
• Creating and using a board job description
• Board orientation strategies
• Designing more productive board meetings
• Use of committees
• Boards 2.0: Alternative governance models
This is an interactive workshop, so come prepared to participate!
Andy Robinson provides training and consulting for nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies. Over the past 28 years, Andy has worked with
clients in 47 US states and across Canada.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020, he has designed and facilitated more than 175 online meetings, webinars, and remote workshops covering a variety of topics, including fundraising, board development, marketing, leadership development, facilitation, planning, change management, alternatives to 501(c)(3), and train-the-trainer programs.
Andy is the author of six books, including Train Your Board (and Everyone Else) to Raise Money. His latest is What Every Board Member Needs to Know, Do, and Avoid. He lives in Plainfield, Vermont
