Green Mountain Library Consortium

MCL members have access to eBooks and digital audiobooks through The Green Mountain Library Consortium (GMLC). The collection consists of content available in 39 languages, and includes access to 40,000 ebooks, 8,000 audiobooks, and 4,200 magazines. Users may access the collection directly through their OverDrive site or at libbyapp.com on the computer, or through the Libby app on Apple, Android, Google, or Amazon devices.

The Palace Project

The Vermont Department of Libraries provides MCL patrons access to ebooks and audiobooks throughThe Palace Project. The collection is accessible only through the Palace Project App, available for download through Apple’s App Store or Google Play. Download the app now using the buttons below.

Vermont Online Library

Vermont Online Library (VOL) has an ebook collection as well as magazine, academic journal, and newspaper articles collected within 49 databases.

 

Access to the Digital Library Collections

 

Library members will use the same Login credentials for each of our digital platforms:

 

    1. The username is the 14-digit library card number.
    2. The password/PIN is the member’s last name* [all lowercase, no spaces or punctuation]. Please note that changing your password in The Manchester Community Library Online Card Catalog (located in the top navigation bar of the MCL website), will also change your password on all Manchester Community Library digital platforms.

What is Kanopy?

Kanopy is a video streaming service that provides instant access to thousands of critically acclaimed movies, documentaries, and kid favorites. We partner with studios like A24, The Criterion Collection, PBS, and more to bring your library access to thoughtful entertainment.

How can I watch Kanopy?

You can stream Kanopy on any of your favorite devices! Kanopy is accessible via mobile and tablet apps for iPhone and Android. You can also access Kanopy on your computer desktop and via SmartTV apps like Roku, Apple TV, and Fire Stick.

How to create an account

  • To get started, visit kanopy.com and select the “Add Library Card” button on the lower left
  • Log in using your library credentials
    • The username is the 14-digit library card number.

MCL is proud to offer free access to a wide array of online databases encompassing a variety of topics to all Manchester Community Library members. These resources are produced by known and trusted publishers.

Bloom’s Literature

Offers a wealth of relevant content on the most-studied authors and works, multicultural classics, contemporary literature, and more. The database contains over 750 full-length videos of classic plays and films, over 1,000 literary classics eBooks, and over 2,600 full-text poems.

Chronicling America

Offers digitized issues of the Manchester Journal from 1861-1922. Use the “Issues for:” drop-down menu on the left to select a year, then click a date on the calendar to view an issue. Chronicling America is sponsored jointly by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Library of Congress.

MyVermont.gov

Vermont residents can research Vermont birth, marriage, and death records from 1909-2008 on Ancestry.com for free if they first sign up for a MyVermont.gov account. You can read more about how to access Ancestry at the Vermont Department of Libraries info page.

Thomson Reuters Westlaw

With Westlaw’s National Core, residents are provided access to many of the same
tools and resources that courts and our nation’s law firms rely on every day, such as annotated
versions of statutes and case law.

Britannica Library

The Award-Winning Resource for Children and Adults, is the oldest English-language general encyclopedia. The Encyclopedia Britannica was first published in 1768, when it began to appear in EdinburghScotland. Easy to use, and easy to find trusted information!

LinkedIn Learning

Provides access to more than 16,000 high-quality online courses taught by experts in their fields. LinkedIn Learning courses cover everything from the latest technologies to basic computer literacy, all available to you with your MCL membership. Online courses are available in seven languages.

Opinion Archives

Provides full-text searchable archives for journals of opinion, such as The Nation, Commentary, The New Republic, National Review, Harper’s Magazine, New York Review of Books, and the New Yorker. Covers domestic and international politics, arts and culture from leading authors, poets, journalists, and statesmen.

Udemy

25,000+ Online Video Courses offering skills in the areas of business, tech, and personal development across more than 75 categories. The International Collection features 7,000+ courses taught by native speakers in 12 languages.

ChiltonLibrary

Get the information you need to tackle vehicle maintenance and repairs. Resource features include maintenance and specification tables, step-by-step service and repair procedures, a labor estimating tool, wiring diagrams, vacuum diagrams to simplify troubleshooting, ASE test prep quizzes, and more.

Mango Languages

Online access to Mango Languages, offering over 70 languages as a continuously expanding resource. Mango is accessible via a desktop website or a user-friendly app. To start with Mango Languages, visit their site, check out this short tutorial video, or use our help guides.

VOL Gale Databases

Through the Vermont Department of Libraries, MCL offers access to a suite of 50 Gale Online Research Databases in the Vermont Online Library (VOL). Content made available in the VOL is produced by known and trusted publishers, and is available from any location with Internet access.
