Rhonna Cass

Board President

Rhonna has served on the Manchester Community Library Board since 2021, bringing with her a deep belief in the power of libraries to transform lives.  Growing up in a small Midwest town with just a weekly visit from the Bookmobile, she discovered early on how books could open doors to the wider world. That sense of wonder and access still drives her commitment to the Library today.

Rhonna brings decades of leadership experience across both corporate and nonprofit sectors.  Early in her career, she supported national non-profit associations in strategic growth and operations. She later held executive leadership roles serving as Chief Operating Officer and CEO of Compass Group USA divisions, where she led large, complex teams and billion-dollar operations. Her work centered around values-based leadership, organizational growth, and transformation.

In the nonprofit sector, Rhonna has served as both Board President and Director of the Greater Chicago Food Depository, advocated for food security through Beyond Hunger, and volunteered with the Oak Park Public Library’s literacy program and the local Animal Care League. Her service reflects a consistent dedication to strengthening communities from the ground up.

Rhonna’s reading preferences are as wide-ranging as her interests—from North Woods by Daniel Mason to Ray Kurzweil’s Singularity is Nearer to The Comfort of Crows by Margaret Renkl. She is guided by curiosity and discovery.

Though she has traveled “around the world in 30 days” with her nephew and completed three different Camino de Santiago hikes (French Way, the Portuguese, and the North Coast), Rhonna is happiest at home with her dog and in her garden.  “Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.” – Omar Khayyam

Rhonna is a resident of Manchester.
